That certain extensions are useful for you is good, but it is not certain that this is the same for all phpBB users.My idea is that the phpBB core could natively incorporate some extensions that proved to be useful in a certain way.
That's the whole point of an extension, everyone is free to use it or not.
Nothing stops you from making a request to resume an abandoned extension, or asking on the forum if someone can do it for you.
