I prefer more control than less. Image may be NSFW.To be honest.. we already have way too many permissions in the core. I think this should be an extension.
As I see it, new permission would make edit limit setting redundant.

The global edit time limit leaves little control. If for example you have classified section on your site it's something you would not want to impose edit restriction on. I had another case where the forum owner wanted to allow a certain group edit permissions for their own posts and it's simply not possible without giving them moderator permissions.IMO we rethink how the edit time limit is used. Instead you use it to trigger a moderator review of the edit.
